1. Scope

These terms govern all lessons, curriculum levels, lesson credits and digital services offered by House of Beats, Weinfelden, Switzerland ("the school"). By purchasing or booking, you accept them.

2. Contracting parties and minors

For students of age, the contract is with the student. For minors, the contract is with a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for payment and for the consents described below. One customer account may hold several students.

3. The services

The school teaches music — production, songwriting and film music — in one-to-one and group lessons, organised as a curriculum of levels. A level is a fixed package of lesson credits with defined learning content ending in a finished piece of music; lesson credits are also sold as standalone credit packages. Lessons take place on-site at the school's studio or by video call.

4. How the contract is formed

A purchase in the online shop is binding once the order is confirmed and paid. Where a student applies for a level from their dashboard and a parent pays ("application"), the contract is formed when the school confirms the resulting quotation with the paying parent. The school may decline an application without giving reasons.

5. Prices and payment

Prices and their currency are as shown in the shop at the time of purchase. Payment is due on ordering, or on invoice terms where agreed. The school may change prices for future purchases; purchases already made are not affected.

6. Lesson credits

A purchased level or credit package grants its stated number of lesson credits. Credits are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and expire afterwards. Lessons already booked before that date go ahead as scheduled — expiry applies only to unused credits. They are personal to the enrolled student and not transferable to other persons; they have no cash value except as provided in section 12.

7. Booking, cancellation and rescheduling

Lessons are booked in the customer portal. A booked lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts, in the customer portal. Later cancellations and missed lessons ("no-show") count as taken and use up their credit. If the student is late, the lesson still ends at its scheduled time. Lessons cancelled by the school are always re-credited or rescheduled, at the customer's choice.

8. Online lessons — requirements and responsibilities

The student needs a computer with a stable internet connection, a webcam, a microphone or headset, and — where the curriculum requires it — the agreed music software. The room, the equipment and its safe use (including device and headphone volume) are the responsibility of the student — for minors, of their parents, who also decide on any supervision during lessons. The school has no control over the conditions at the student's location.

9. On-site lessons

For lessons at the school's studio, students arrive at the agreed time; for minors, bringing and collecting the student on time is the parents' responsibility, and insurance (including accident insurance) is the participant's own matter. Studio instruments and equipment are used with care and only as instructed; damage caused deliberately or through serious carelessness may be charged. Students who are ill are asked to reschedule (section 7) rather than attend.

10. Technical disruptions

If a lesson fails for reasons on the school's side, the credit is always restored. If the student cannot join or loses the connection for reasons on their side, the teacher stays available for 15 minutes; if the lesson cannot be resumed within that window, it counts as taken. Where the school can, it will offer a goodwill solution — this is voluntary and creates no entitlement.

11. Conduct and content

Lessons are a respectful space. Work created or brought into lessons and any material published through the school must be free of discriminatory, violent, degrading or otherwise unlawful content. The teacher may end a lesson or decline to work on a specific project that violates this standard; repeated or serious violations entitle the school to terminate under section 12.

12. Termination and refunds

Either party may end the teaching relationship at any time, in writing or through the portal. In that case, unused lesson credits of the affected student are refunded pro rata at the price paid for them; lessons already taken and services already rendered are not refunded. There is no statutory right of withdrawal for online purchases under Swiss law; this section is the applicable refund policy.

13. The student's music — ownership and publishing

Music a student writes or produces belongs to the student. If a student (for minors: with parental consent) submits a track for release, they grant the school a simple, non-exclusive, non-commercial right to publish it on this website. That right can be revoked at any time by the student or parents — the school then removes the track — and the school may itself decline or remove a publication at any time. The student warrants that submitted work is their own and contains no third-party material without the necessary rights.

14. Teaching materials and recordings

Teaching materials made available by the school (sheets, project files, exercises) remain the school's intellectual property and are for the enrolled student's personal practice only; they may not be shared or published. Neither party may record lessons or distribute recordings without the other's prior consent.

15. Privacy of minors on the public website

Students appear on public pages of this website only under a self-chosen artist name and only if their profile has been set public — for minors this additionally requires parental consent. Legal names of minors are not published. Details are set out in the privacy policy.

16. Curriculum progression

Levels build on each other and are sold in order. Students with prior experience can arrange a placement session, after which the school may set a different starting level. Certificates issued for completed levels are internal to the school and confer no official qualification.

17. The customer portal

The school provides a customer portal for booking, progress and releases. Reasonable efforts are made to keep it available, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. Account credentials are the account holder's responsibility.

18. Liability

The school is liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence. Liability for slight negligence is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Sections 8 to 10 define the spheres of responsibility for lessons.

19. Data protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with the privacy policy published on this website and Swiss data protection law.

20. Changes to these terms

The school may amend these terms for the future. The version published on this website at the time of a purchase applies to that purchase.

21. Applicable law and jurisdiction

Swiss law applies. Place of jurisdiction is the registered seat of the school — subject to mandatory consumer jurisdictions.
